Old Dad Tired Dad Energised Dad

Old Dad, Tired Dad… Do I need Sleep?

There;’s no question as an older dad you will feel more drained than usual. Now four weeks in the nights and the getting up are in fulls swing. This means less sleep.

So the question is what to do when you are totally knackered?

I can only share what I do and it works for me.

The other day my son decided that it would be a really great idea to stay up all night. Saying that he had slept all day and I mean – ALL DAY!

So when bedtime arrived we got him to sleep at 9pm and then at midnight he was full on play with me daddy!

The next morning I felt sick I was so tired despite the fact that my wife gets up more than me.

Now there are two options.

The first is to fee that overwhelming desire to sleep.

The second option and my option is to go to the gym.

As an older dad I cant’ say enough you need to get fit or stay fit. The more I workout the more energy I have. If I go and sleep I lie on the bed wondering when I am going to sleep and hence never get any extra sleep.

THAT’S ME AFTER ZERO SLEEP TRYING TO KEEP MYSELF ALAIVE ;-)

I went to the gym totally tired out (and looked it) and came back after 90 minutes totally energized and ready to take on the world. I felt amazing all day and al lthe way to bedtime with no extra sleep.

This is just my thing but talking with other older dads I see older father that are trying to catch up on sleep and look like death or older dads that are trying to stay fit and look really great.

So old dad … foge the sleep its history. Get yourself fit and the results will be a stronger body, less tiredness despite the lack of sleep and more energy for your new baby.

I promise.
